IntroductionThanks For Visiting The Woodshop Tool Reviews Web Page! This web site provides detailed reviews of woodworking tools that I own or have owned. My opinions regarding tools are skewed towards cabinet and furniture making. I advise to invest in a good quality set of core hand and powered tools. I acquired my tools over a 20+ year period, generally buying what I needed for a particular job or a job in mind. If you can afford the best, buy it. If not, buy the best you can afford. For a great lesson on a good mix of tools, refer to the Frank Klausz video Dovetail a Drawer. "Stuff Breaks!" Remember that every machine and tool requires maintenance. The more machines and tools, the more time you spend adjusting, sharpening, fixing, replacing, etc. Maintaining three or four machines and the typical array of hand saws and planes could be a full-time job. Before I buy a tool I try to imagine what ownership of that tool will be like, after the honeymoon is over. There are a couple of tools that would be of great use in my shop--a drum sander for instance--that I have not purchased because of the maintenance and fooling around they require.
