IntroductionI have high expectations for this set of web pages, but just have not had time to work on them. My plans include guitar lessons, songwriting tips, and lessons regarding my chord-melody style of playing. Guitar LessonsI hope to build my own guitar lesson pages soon. The lessons will include:
Keep checking back! Guitar Lesson ReviewsThere are tons of online guitar lessons, methods, DVDs, etc. availble online. I have tried several and was quite disappointed with a few. Here is my take on them... GuitarConsultant.comIf you want to learn how to compose and play shred-style metal guitar, I recommend that you check out Will Landrum's Guitar Consultant web site. Will offers several great interactive computer-based lesson CDs and other instructional / learning materials. The site also provides free content. Will also recently published a Guitar Instrumental CD of his original compositions, "Living Digits". You can check it out at his site. Not only is Will's instruction incredible, I love his clean layout and over-the-shoulder look at the fretboard. In other words, when you watch Will play the examples, the view is the same as if you were looking at your own fret board, not the "mirror" image you get sitting across from a teach view of most instruction videos. Riff InteractiveI have several Riff Interactive courses. They are of the highest quality. My primary negative comment is that the screen is just too busy with players, instruction, tab, etc. I will write more later concerning the specific courses I have purchased. Freelicks.comFreelicks is another fine site with tons of free videos and instruction: FreeLicks Guitar Lessons - free video, TAB, backing tracks. Music-Guitar UtilitiesThere are a number of free or inexpensive utilities I use for creating guitar music. The following are a few... GCodeXClick the following link to download the Guitar GCODEX Web-based program. This program displays thousands of chords and dozens of scales. I did not write it, just rewrote the HTML and gathered the support files so that guitarists can use it without access to the Web. To download: click the link to download the zip file from my web site (I will leave it there for a short time). Then extract the files into the directory of your choice. Make sure you extract the files keeping the folders intact. After extraction, Double-click the "guitar-gcodex-jl.htm" file to run it. KD Guitar UtilitiesThe KD Guitar Utilities are incredible. I use them tons. And they are free! You can download them from my site or from the owner's site. Email UsDo you have ideas for input? Would you like to contribute an article or link?
